Recycled Swimwear
Design
We designed Atlântico, our first swim shorts model, with three characteristics in mind: sustainable, classic and timeless. We wanted to create something that withstands trends and that will stay with you for many seasons.
The colours were carefully selected to represent what we love the most: ocean, sun and nature.
Fabric
The main fabric and mesh of our swimwear is made from SEAQUAL® YARN, a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn containing SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC from SEAQUAL INITIATIVE. In choosing products containing SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC, you are helping to clean our oceans.
Our fabric has both OEKO-TEX® Class 100 and GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certifications.
The brand labels and drawstring are made with 100% organic cotton. The labels have been printed with water-based natural dyes. The back pocket button is made from FSC®-certified wood.
Apparel
Design
We wanted to complement our swimwear, with a unisex apparel collection that is also comfortable, relaxed and perfect for exploring the outdoors. With our passion for the ocean and nature in mind, each piece has unique illustrations made in collaboration with a surfer, activist and artist from Peniche. The graphics have motifs that aim to increase awareness about plastic pollution.
Fabric
The t-shirts are made from 100% organic cotton and the crewnecks and hoodies are 85% organic cotton and 15% recycled polyester. By using organic cotton, we ensure that no harmful chemicals go into the soil and water courses. It also uses 91% less water than regular cotton.
The 15% recycled polyester used in our crewnecks and hoodies comes from post-consumer PET bottles and it adds durability to the products.
Some of our products are made with undyed fabric which means that the colour comes from the natural properties of the virgin cotton fibres. All the graphics have been printed with water-based ink. The brand labels is also made with 100% organic cotton.
Our apparel is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), GRS (Global Recycling Standard), OEKO-TEX® Class 100, PETA-Approved Vegan and FAIR WEAR certified.
Forest-positive
We pack and ship our products in recycled & recyclable cardboard boxes that are locally manufactured in Europe and FSC® certified.
We are a forest-positive brand. With every packaging purchase we make, we contribute towards the One Tree Planted charity. They support reforestation by planting trees around the world. This way we make sure we plant more than we use.
Beach clean-ups
The beach clean-ups that we join in Portugal can be anything from small groups of local volunteers, all the way through to large international programs.
